Indians can sell their data to get better healthcare and easier loans! Nandan Nilekani

At a time when the Supreme Court of India is seized with issues as data privacy and surveillance and the likely consequences they may have on the Indians due to the central government's insistence to go overboard on the 'Aadhaar biometric identification system', there is a piece of sage advice coming from Nandan Nilekeni, the chief architect of it to the effect that we the Indians should utilise this opportunity to sell our personal data in exchange for  getting a better 'health care and cheaper loans' .

According to him, monetising our personal data, with which we are already rich would pave the way us to become economically rich!

Here's my personal reaction and views:

Yes, Mr. Nilekani! Your advice is timely to bring down the inequality in the Indian system where only a few rich can get the bank loans and get away from the country. May be this would neutralize the scams being seen only at the top of the pyramid and perhaps provide ways and means for the rest to make an attempt to become rich.

After all, we need to give up something to get something!
